CENTENNIAL HALL BRIDGE CLUB BYLAWS
Article I Name
The name of the organization is the Centennial Hall Bridge Club.
Article II Objectives and Purpose
The objective of the club is to facilitate and promote the game of Bridge in a comfortable and congenial setting. This includes abiding by the Zero Tolerance Policy (ZTP) as published by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL). The purpose of the club is to provide recreation for its members and guests and is a nonprofit organization. No part of any net gains or remainder or residue shall inure to the benefit of any single member or individual.
Article III Membership
Generally, members will be those playing at the club on a regular basis. The club is open to all. There are no dues but participation in the weekly play will require a fee to be determined by the board of directors.
Article IV Officers and Executive Board
Section 1 Board of Directors
The Board of Directors shall consist of three individuals: President, Vice President, and Bridge Director.
Section 2 Roles and Responsibilities
President:
Organize and manage the program to insure play on a weekly basis
Keep the membership informed on matters related to the club
Call for Board of Directors meetings, as needed
Call for membership meetings prior to play, as needed
Hold elections as necessary
Appoint committees as necessary
Vice President: In the absence of the President perform the above duties as necessary.
Bridge Director:
Oversee and officiate the games held by the club in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations contained in The Laws of Duplicate Bridge as published by ACBL
Enforce the ZTP as referenced previously
Be familiar and stay up to date with the above rules and regulation and code of conduct (ZTP) as published by ACBL
Maintain and update scoring program
Section 3 Officer Terms
Only the President and Vice-President shall have a two-year term coincident with the calendar year. (The initial term will end on December 31, 2026.) The Bridge Director will continue until he/she is no longer able to perform the above duties.
Section 4 Elections
Elections will be held the first week of November prior to the end of the calendar year in which all terms end. All members present will be eligible to vote.
In the case of resignation or incapacity of the President or Vice President, special elections shall take place as soon as possible.
When a new Bridge Director is needed, the President and Vice President shall review the resumes of potential candidates and present the membership with the two best candidates for a vote.
Article V Executive Board Meetings
Matters coming to the attention of the Board shall be discussed at a meeting called by the President. All decisions by the board will be decided by a simple majority of the board meeting present and are final.
Article VI Amendments and Revisions
Amendments or revisions to the by-laws require a simple majority of the members present.
Article VII Provision for Dissolution
Should the club decide that it can no longer function, any money remaining after settling of accounts shall be given to Centennial Hall at 105 Post Road, North Hampton NH.
